Actions and Deliverables
Duration 26 - 34 months
Industrial testing in a rotary kiln, where serpentinated waste of selected quality will be heat treated for its transformation into dunite. The produced product will be used for the production of olivine refractory bricks and masses, vased on laboratory compositions. Quality Control/Quality Analysis on the created, refractory products, according to the their future use, such as controls on microstructure and mineral composition, density and porosity, as well as thermomechanical properties
Duration 2 - 18 months
The first step involves the establishment of the Coordination and Scientific team and the corroboration of the smooth and efficient progress of the project through the use of optimal processes between the partners, according to the proposed project plan. Among the results there will be found a meticulous bibliographic review of the project and the project's website.
Duration 3 - 36 months
Experiments of heat treatment and conversion of sterile rock into dunite. Implentation of granulometric, petrographic and mineral analysis of the initial and final samples (SEM, XRD etc) and chemical & geochemical analysis (XRF, ICP-MS etc). Statistical analysis and results processing leading to modeling the experimental process
Duration 13 - 30 months
Laboratory development of refractory products via the serpentine conversion process, in close collaboration with all project's partners.
Duration 3 - 36 months
Daily sampling from magnesite mines in Gerakini - Geological and Repository mapping of the area of the magnesite mines of Gerakini, Chalkidiki
Duration 31 - 36 months
Composition of economic and technical feasibility-sustainability study upon the developed technology
